On Friday, some of us at school took a van tour of the neighborhood to see where our students come from. It is amazing how beautiful one housing development is and its contrast to the trailer court next to it! But it was a lot of fun and great to see. Our turf is huge! No wonder we have nearly a thousand students!

Thursday after the meetings we had a grade level meeting and talked about what sorts of things we’re going to do the first day (Monday). So I spent a few hours Thursday night coming up with a schedule and lesson plans. I posted these on Friday and three of the other teachers liked it so well they copied it!

Blog of the Week: http://tinyurl.com/65d59w I know, I haven’t done this in a long time! The blog entry in that link isn’t the most recent (the ones above it on the right sidebar are) but it’s the one that drew me in. The author is a Fullbright Scholar who moved to Bulgaria this week. Talk about Adventures in Moving and Living! Makes moving to Arizona look so tame!

One of the things I wore to school this week was the necklace Lisa bought me at the art show in Mt. Horeb while I was there. Many people commented on how they loved it! My camera is being wonky at the moment, so I haven’t taken a picture of the necklace yet, but I will when I can.

Blog of the Week

OK, it was hard.  I will show you why.  I like this blog entry:   http://blog.geek2geek.info/2008/01/29/i-didnt-say-you-stole-my-money/ from another blog but it didn’t grab me enough to read the rest of the blog.  I may later, in which case it might become a future Blog of the Week.  This one interests me as it is written by the mother of conjoined twins http://www.emmaandtaylorbailey.blogspot.com/ and talks about some of their experiences to day.   The reason I didn’t choose the following one is that the author is currently undergoing treatment for breast cancer and I know that’s not what some of my readers need to read about right now.  That was a recent development.  I read it because it’s about an older single woman who adopted a child from Vietnam and their experiences. http://justenjoyhim.wordpress.com/

And so instead I chose the journey and experiences of a British man living in China.  You need to start at the bottom of the page if you’re interested in reading it.  I know a very vocal group that hates blogs, but I think there’s an incredible world of people out there.

Blog of the Week

If you’ll remember, I recently posted a link to the Tedesco family’s blog http://pawnhandler.wordpress.com/2008/01/28/. That has proven to be quite a hit with a small selection of readers (one). In today’s episode of that blog, we discover that a commercial we saw during the Superbowl included a Tedesco! But that got me to thinking. There are a few other blogs I check out. Two of them I may feature in future blogs of the week, or not.

Today’s blog of the week http://uniquemuslimah.wordpress.com/2008/02/10/my-anniversary-of-freedom/ is by a fascinating young woman. She is Muslim, travels around the world, and takes photographs (as a hobby, as near as I can tell). Her entries are fascinating, though, and far removed from my life here in the southwest or formerly in cheese-land. And yet … they’re not. I particularly enjoyed some of her “top posts.” And so, Unique Muslimah earns this week’s Blog of the Week.
